Michael Gener joins as a recent graduate of the University of San Francisco’s Hospitality Management program. While attending school, Michael worked as a line cook for RoadSide BBQ in San Francisco which gave him the first-hand experience to manage back of the house operations. Shortly after Michael became a supervisor at the famous Austin to San Francisco transplanted franchise of Askew Grill, working at various locations across the Bay Area. Being a jack of all trades, Michael pulls from his experience as a line cook as well as a supervisor to find the perfect balance between the front and the back of the house. With a very clear perspective on his path, Michael has always valued working at a Caribbean restaurant such as Coconuts Palo Alto has the goal for his career.

In addition, Michael has spent significant time in Jamaica learning about the food and culture. Michael invests himself in always being aware of the traditional ingredients and prep methods necessary for Jamaican cuisine. Michael’s passion for traditional Caribbean cuisine well coupled with his passion for reggae music. Exceedingly well versed in the history and trends, Michael is Coconuts aficionado when it comes to soundtracks of the islands.
